In brief, mid cap stocks are the companies that ranked between 100 and 250 in terms of full market cap. Mutual funds which invest only in mid cap stocks are called mid cap mutual funds.

AMFI declares the list of large cap, mid cap, and small cap stocks two times a year. Mutual funds need to rebalance the portfolio in line with the updated list within a month's time.
